Available for the IH 152 and 196 4 cylinder and 266, 304, 345, and 392 V8 engine.
The D.U.I. features a 50,000 volt coil and the high output
Dyna Module. The coil and the module work together to produce
a longer duration spark, allowing spark plug gaps to be
opened up to a whopping .055". The larger spark plug gap burns the fuel mixture more completely, leading to more power.
A hotter spark also keeps your plugs cleaner longer.
The D.U.I. allows FULL voltage to the ignition system - no
ballast resistor is used. Every D.U.I. is hand assembled to
exact tolerances - no mass production. Every unit is calibrated
on a distributor machine with a super smooth advance curve providing
you with instant throttle response and more power, while eliminating
damaging detonation. A coordinated vacuum advance is also
utilized. No trial and error for you - the advance curve is
already dialed in according to your supplied specifications.
Built for durability, the D.U.I. features
both an upper and lower oil impregnated bushing. A heavy
duty cap and rotor with solid brass terminals is included.
The D.U.I. is virtually water, mud and vibration proof because the
electronic components are protected inside the distributor. All you
have to do is run one 12 volt hot wire to the D.U.I. and you are ready
to run! There is also an optional tach hookup provided.
These distributors are drop shipped from the manufacturer as they are special order as each one is built and calibrated to your engine specs. Although this causes a delay in shipment the end product is much better than an out-of-box unit.
Average time it takes before you would receive your distributor is 4 weeks. Please fill out as much info about your vehicle as possible(vehicle type, engine size, camshaft, carb, intake manifold, transmission, gear ratio, tire size, vehicle weight, etc) when ordering. Also if ordering ignition wires please let us know which color you would like.
Add the recommended Livewires for an additional $95 or Billet Wire Separators for $75.

APPLICATIONS WITH THE 304 OR 345 V8. YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK BY SWAPPING UPPER WATER NECK AND ADDING A THERMOSTAT HOUSING FROM 1979 AND EARLIER APPLICATIONS.
CERTAIN STYLE WATER NECKS MAY NEED REPLACEMENT DEPENDING ON APPLICATION.
THIS DISTRIBUTOR IS A TIGHT FIT BUT WILL FIT WITH THE SCOUT II STYLE WATERNECK.
NOTE - MINOR MODIFICATION TO THERMOSTAT HOUSING REQUIRED.

Ordered it along with the modified thermostat housing and livewires. Was beyond worth it! I did have to get the earlier "wrap around" water neck to make clearance but other than that it went in without a problem. Fired up on first crank and engine is much more peppy now. Extremely good purchase.

    DUI Install

Well I just finished installing my new DUI on Saturday.
The install went just as described, but it is a tight fit. I did use the re-designed thermo housing and that made just enough room for the DUI. I thought I had a pretty good running engine but after some Prestolite dizzy issues I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade. So my "pretty good" running engine is now a GREAT running engine. It is smoother, snappier,and I can tell I have a HP increase. The HP increase has to do with spinning tires, I will say no more. As far as milage the verdict is still out, the only milage test so far was with a 25mph head wind for an hour, not a fair test.
So, yes I would recommend this upgrade. |

Installation was a snap and well worth the two hours and a six pack. The engine compartment is much neater and the one key turn starts are amazing. The conversion is well worth the money spent!
