CPT - Crawler Proven Technology Deluxe Suspension System for ALL 1961-71 Scout 80, Scout 800, 800A or 800B.

Developed as a complete kit with parts that all work together as a system that compliment each enough that it gives you a decent ride ~ for a Scout.

Depending on how your Scout is equipped(4cyl, 6cyl or V8), or how worn your existing leaf springs are, and depending on how much weight you normally are dragging around in your Scout, this suspension system should net you 1"-3" of lift, with most Scout's averaging about 2" of total lift.

This complete system includes the following parts:

- CPT Heavy Duty Leaf Springs Front & Rear
- CPT 4" Heavy Duty Shackle Sets Front & Rear
- CPT 1/2" Ubolts Front & Rear
- CPT 2* Front Castor Shims
- Bilstein Shocks Front & Rear
- Spring Bushings Front & Rear
- Additional Hardware for Shocks and Leaf Springs
- CPT Stainless Steel Extended Rear Brake Hose

NOTE - This suspension system may require additional modifications to the vehicle. Front driveshaft to transmission crossmember area may need to be notched. Factory U-bolt plates will need holes enlarged in order to accommodate the larger 1/2" CPT ubolts.

Choose proper kit when ordering.

Since there are variations in the different year models and due to parts changes made by previous owners in the past 50 years it is best to describe your Scout to us in the comments section. We would like to know what Year your Scout is, Engine size, which Front Axle it has and which Rear Axle it has.

See the before and after pictures below of our own 1971 Scout 800B.

Check box if you would like to add matching front stainless steel brakes hoses and or CPT Ubolt Plates.

PLEASE NOTE - Leaf springs may arrive to you scratched or slightly flawed in its finish. This does not affect the function of the product. We ask that you understand the circumstances of ordering and shipping leaf springs prior to placing your order. We do not accept returns on leaf springs for any of the above factors

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 CPT Suspension Lift
Submitted by: Steven Hess (Mount Joy, PA)

Received My CPT lift for my 1967. Springs were scratched in shipping. So What I plan on scratching them off road. The shackles were not Painted, so what fixed that in one hour and I will probably scratch them to. waiting for front shocks they were backordered, no big deal I will get them before I'm done with the rest. What I did get was a quality lift kit with everything I needed for a complete installation. Like a kid at Christmas and from time of order until I received 1 week to the east coast. Next I will get the CPT steering complete with drag link tie rods and pitman. The quality is exceptional and the service was spot on. IH Parts America my new best friend on this build!

Fast shipping. Easy install. Took about 7 hours between 2 days. I ended up with 1 inch on lift in the rear (the old springs were still really good) and 3.5-4 inches in the front. It looks and drives like a new truck now.

My only complaint is that I didn’t buy this sooner. WOW what an incredible difference in ride quality. My scout no longer rides like a forklift, and I can take corners with speed. I DD an original ‘70 800 V8 Aristocrat that sagged on the passenger side and sounded like it would fall into a million pieces on a dirt road. I came out with about about 3” of lift. Easy installation for a dilettante like myself. Great advice in the comments below and great customer service from the team here. There is a forum post with photos and advice I found very helpful and it comes with decent instructions. A few things to note: The website quoted me $300+ to ship the kit to Michigan, I called and placed the order over the phone and saved a lot on shipping. I had to make the u-bolt plates bigger, but kept my original brake hoses, and didnt have to modify anything else. The hardest part of this whole process is getting the original steel bushing sleeve out of the shackle hanger (clevis). Whatever you do, DO NOT try and smash it out with a hammer and chisel like I did, your knuckles will thank you. Either buy, rent, borrow, or beg for a ball joint press. I used the clamp and a 7/8 socket to press the sleeve out. It takes about 2 minutes, a large improvement from my 2 hours of bashing and cursing. You can also cut a slit in these lengthwise and use an air hammer/chisel to peel it out. Although this technique leaves more room for error and marring up the surface. I installed this kit with new body bushings and feel like I’m driving a different truck. Happy riding folks.

Submitted by: charles clark (Maple Valley, WA)

Ordered and received the kit within a couple days. The kit went on my '69 Scout 800A, 4 spd with 304. A straight forward installation with the only pain being the removal of the original bushing outer sleeves at frame clevis's. My truck was leaning to the passenger side. It had all original leaf springs and they were pretty shot. My truck also had the original 1/2" inch spacer between the rear RH leaf spring and axle. Since spring rates on originals and CPT replacements are the same (not specific LH/RH parts), I re-installed the factory spacer with my new leafs. A couple things: Make sure you install the included washers between shackle and frame clevis to leaf spring bushing interfaces in order to ensure best clamp up and to avoid bending frame clevis's. Leave all bolts loose until the truck is on the ground and then torque. Make sure you use the specific poly lube (supplied) on the poly bushing faces and sleeves prior to installing shackles. Overall, this is a very nice, 800 specific leaf spring kit that goes together very nicely and works well. The lift was approx 2". All necessary hardware included. Bilsteins are a quality product that also go on easy and work well. I did not have to use the included rear brake line on my truck as the original replacment I had recently installed worked throughout the full range of travel. After getting the whole thing together, I set the Scout on the ground and checked for level (which was very good), tightened up all the shackle and clevis bolts to necessary torque (approx 60 ft/lbs) and that was it. It rides firm and nice, is solid and tracks and steers well. Seems to steer easier. The increase in lift did increase the angle of the steering link (between pitman arm and drag link). This changed the orientation of the pitman arm slightly which in turn through the steering wheel off a couple teeth. I had to pull it and re-clock. Time for some fun!

I received the kit and was pleased with the quality. The rear U-bolts and shackles were not painted and the leaf springs were pretty scratched up but a little rattle can and all was well. My issue was that my U-bolt plates and upper shock studs were both in bad shape and the kit did not contain either. I've since found out these are not readily available. the kit states that the plates will have to be modified for the 1/2" U-bolts but it would be nice if those parts were included. Now I'm at a standstill on my build because I cannot find good plates or shock bolts. Somewhat disappointed since all of these vehicles are so old and probably could benefit from new plates and shock bolts to have a completely new suspension. They did have the plates for Scout IIs but that doesn't help me very much.

5 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 55 out of 5 Great Suspension for the 50/50 Scout
Submitted by: Stephen Lindsay (Las Vegas, NV)

Just finished installing the suspension kit and netted about 2" on my 1970 800a w/304 and stock axles (D30/D44). I didn't have to cut/grind the skid plate which was nice. I reused my UBolt plates but had to ream out the rear ones to fit the 1/2" UBolts. 265/70 R16 (31"x105") fit with ease. This is how these Scouts should have come from the factory! Pros = Complete Kit, Great Shocks, Amazing Customer Service. Cons = Unpainted Shackles, No Instructions. An option for powder-coated shackles would have been nice after all most will paint them black. Simple instructions would have gone a long way and shouldn't be too hard to write up. Something with torque settings and whether or not to use shims (Passenger Front/Rear Springs V8), etc. I followed my Chilton manual but after spending over $1k, I was surprised not to see instructions. Highly recommended.

Very Happy with the kit. I wanted them since introduced, finally got it and got it on. Paint was scratched off the springs, as expected. The shackles are bare steel like you can see in the photo, so the paint can was out anyway. The kit leveled my '62 and gave it ~ 2" lift. The top of the wheel well at each corner on 31" BFG ATs at 34 psi on 15" wheels. Driver fr 34" before, 36" after... Passenger 33 1/2" before, 36" after Driver re 32 1/4" before, 34 1/2" after... Passenger 31 3/4" before, 34 1/2" after.

Purchased the 80/800 CPT Suspension System when first released. It is without a doubt the most 80/800 specific designed suspension available on the market. Installation was straightforward, products is of high quality, and it arrived to my doorstep shortly after ordering. I have been extremely pleased with the ride/handling since installing and have recommended it to friends without hesitation. The only suspension "kit" to consider for an 80 or 800 scout.

i live in southern California so the kit arrived very quick. When i got it off the UPS truck I did notice the springs had a few scratches but i just hit them real quick with a rattle can. As of now i only have the front all bolted up but everything fit great. I didn't take before and after measurements but I can say that there is at least 2" of lift on my 69 800A with a 196. The only thing I would like to see offered for this kit is a matching Bilstein steering stabilizer just so everything matches.

Q: I have a '65 80 that I recently updated with '76 Scout II Dana 44s front and rear. Can you tell me if this is the best kit for that setup and what lift I should expect out of it. I'll have a 6.2L LS3 with a 6L80e trans. Thanks!
A: It would be a great fit on your Scout!
Q: Hi. Can you change shackels to get more height out of the lift? Looking to try to get true 3-4 inch lift out of this. Thanks.
A: You will not be able to get 3-4 inches out of our kit. Sorry.
